Set apart

Live a set apart life

During the age that we live in, it is becoming increasingly difficult to differentiate between a Christian and a person of the world. Many people who call themselves Christians are living in the same way as the world does; their lifestyle is no different from that of a worldly person. We have become a compromising people, flowing with the trends without a second thought of where such trends originate from. The world has programmed us into calling sinful things good, and we think that just because most people are doing it or saying it, then it must be okay.

If people cannot tell that we are followers of Christ by our lifestyle, then there is a big problem. It is time for us to examine ourselves to find out if we are just Christians by name or if we are truly believers in Christ. Salvation is not a crowd affair, it is a personal walk with God. We will all stand individually before God and give an account of how we lived our lives in this world.

Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 2 Corinthians 5:9-10.

If you are still living a life of people-pleasing, a life of seeking validation, acceptance, and praise from people, then you need to slow down and start seeking God. If your life is motivated by a drive to acquire the temporary things of this world, then you really need to stop and start giving attention to the most important thing, that is, developing a relationship with God and living a life pleasing to Him.

The life of a true born again believer in Christ Jesus is a set apart life. To follow Christ, we have to deny ourselves many things of this world, take up our cross, and follow Him. It is a life of sacrifice, a life of dying to self, a life whereby we are no longer led by carnal desires but instead, we are led by the Spirit of God. The Bible tells us not to conform to the patterns of this world.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2.

The ways of this world may appear appealing for a moment but they eventually lead to death. Satan has nothing to offer, he is our enemy, he hates us and his only mission is to kill, steal, and destroy. Do not become an agent of the enemy, do not help the enemy to carry out his evil mission, because once he is done with you, he will try to destroy you. Satan is the god of this world and he has blinded the minds of many people, and those people believe the deception thrown at them by the enemy. Satan does not want people to see light, he wants as many people as possible to perish with him.

But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4.

When did fornication become ‘normal’, when did gossip become ‘the in thing’, when did slander become a trend, when did blatant show off become something to smile about, when did being self-centered and making everything about us become a way of life, when did dishonoring our bodies become a way of asserting ourselves or a show of ‘confidence’, who told us that it is acceptable to live the way we want and expect no consequences, when did we become so self-entitled, when did lack of discretion become something to celebrate in ourselves and in others, when did we start calling bad things good, and calling good things bad, when did we start to normalize sin?

The Bible tells us that there is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. Let us watch out and be sober, what we do and say has its consequences. The Word of God clearly tells us that the wages of sin is death, but sadly, there are many people who do not believe that the Word of God is truth, and they end up perishing in their unbelief and disobedience. The Word of God does not change just because you do not believe it, it will still come to pass whether you like it or not, and in the end it will apply to you irrespective of whether you want it to or not, you shall face the consequences of your actions. Do not be deceived. Repent and accept the free gift of salvation that is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Thank God, for His gift is eternal life in Christ Jesus.

Live a set apart life, walk the narrow path that leads to eternal life. Stop trying to please the world, live your life to please God. It will not be easy, you will face persecution because of your faith in God, the world will even hate you. During such moments, be comforted by the words of our Lord Jesus Christ.

“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” John 15:18-18.

When you get born again, you are no longer of the world, and because of that, you cannot live as the world does. Let your way of life be a testimony that you are truly a child of God. You cannot have one foot in the world, and the other foot in God, you have to choose who you shall serve. Choose wisely. A life lived for God is the only life worth living!

Blessings.

I discovered writing is therapeutic. I am introspective. I write using the Word of God as a guide. I love Jesus, my Lord and Savior, the Son of the Living God. He is my first Love. I do everything for the glory of my Heavenly Father. The Holy Spirit is my Teacher of Truth and Comforter. I am a daughter of the King of Kings, a Father who loves me with unconditional unfailing and everlasting love. I write to encourage myself in the Lord, and to encourage you, the reader. I have found rest for my soul in God. It is likewise possible for you, the reader, to find rest for your soul in God despite life's storms. It is God's promise to give rest to His children, we only have to accept the gift. God's promises are Yes and Amen in Christ Jesus. The walk of faith starts by repenting and accepting Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior. It involves complete surrender to God. Let go and let God. Those who trust in the Lord will find new strength, they will soar high on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31). Blessings. 1. Good post Vicky.
I was just praying this morning about “being unspotted from the world,” as per James 1:27.
We must always keep praying for the Lord’s help in this regard, as the world, the flesh and the enemy of our souls continually seek to distract us from being holy people. We must be yoked to the Lord Jesus Christ instead of this world.
    God bless,
    Helen
